01/THE NAME
Anatoly Yakovenko's early Proof of History paper was titled:
“Loom: A new architecture for a high performance blockchain”
The document identifies Anatoly with:
anatoly@loomprotocol.com
02/WHAT WAS A LOOM?
The Loom was the elected Proof of History generator.
It consumed user transactions, ordered them, produced the Proof of History sequence, and output state signatures.
The paper also called replication nodes “Spools.”
03/WHY DID IT CHANGE?
The founders moved away from Loom because another Ethereum-based project called Loom Network existed, creating naming confusion.
The replacement name became Solana, after Solana Beach in California.
